Rules

Starting Time

Games start at 7:30, 8:25, & 9:20pm. For any reason if a team cannot start on time, there will be a 5 mins wait time, and their 1st game will be forfeited. For another 5 mins will forfeit the 2nd game, and 5 more mins will forfeit the last game.

Co-ed / Minimum Players Rule

  • All teams must have 2 females on the court when playing with 6 players. If there is only 1 female on the court, the team must play with 5 players on the court.
  • Minimum of 4 players must be presented on court, including one female.

Scoring & Matches

  • Rally score to 21, cap to 23
  • 3 game matches

Service

  • First serve determined by shooting odds or evens. Losing team has choice in following game.
  • The server must wait for referee's whistle to serve. (Playoffs only)
  • The server may not touch the court before the service. If the server touched the end line during service, foot fault will be called and such team will lose the service and a point.
  • Only one toss or release of the ball is allowed.
  • Net on serve is valid. That is if the service ball touches the net and continue into the opponent's court, such ball is still in play.

Returing the Serve

  • Double hit on the first ball over the net is not a fault. However, a carry is not allowed.
  • Setting the serve is allowed, provided that the ball is not carried.
  • You may not attack the served ball above the net to return the ball to the opponent’s court.
  • You may use any body part to hit the ball, including your feet.

Spiking

  • Players may not reach over the net onto the opponent’s court to spike. However, if the player's hand follows through over the net after a spike, it is not a fault as long as he/she doesn't touch the net.
  • A double hit is allowed on a hard driven spike, provided that there is no carry.
  • Only the front row players may spike the ball. Any back row players must spike behind the 10-foot line.

Blocking

  • No blocking on the served ball.
  • Blockers may reach over the net to block a ball, but can only touch the ball after the opponent has executed an attack hit. Blocking a set is also a fault.
  • A player may hit the ball again after he/she makes a block. The block is not considered a hit.
  • Only front-row players can block.

Net

  • A player is not allowed to touch the net at any time while the ball is in play.
  • When the ball is driven into the net and causes it to touch an opponent, no fault is committed.
  • A player may not step over the center line into the opponent’s space under the net.

Time Out

  • 1 time out of 30 seconds each per game.

Playoffs

  • League rules will also apply to the playoffs.
  • Playoff matches will have a referee.
